Calculate zone flow before runtime

Total zone flow equals emitter count multiplied by rated emitter output. Runtime equals the target water volume divided by zone flow. This provides a starting schedule, but actual emitter discharge should be checked with a timed collection test.

Pressure and elevation affect uniformity

Non-pressure-compensating emitters can discharge differently across a long or sloping zone. Oklahoma State Extension notes that 2.31 feet of elevation corresponds to about one psi, a meaningful difference in low-pressure drip systems. Filters, regulators and correct zone length help preserve uniformity.
